RITE AID CLEVELAND 5K presented by oar

2012 will be the fourth year for the Rite Aid Cleveland 5K and OAR's second year as the presenting charity. This is a great chance for walkers or runners to join the events of race weekend, stretch your legs the day before the big race on Sunday and either way, support autism research!

All 5K runners will receive a goodie bag and T-shirt from the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon in addition to the OAR team benefits listed below.

Fundraising

OAR is excited to be the presenting charity for the event again this year. 100% of the funds donated by participants during the Cleveland Marathon registration process goes to OAR. Participants are also encouraged to set up a free fundraising website with OAR to raise funds for autism research at www.firstgiving.com/oar/clevelandmarathon.

Those participating in only the Cleveland 5K are required to fundraise a minimum of $100. Anyone who would like to participate in both the Cleveland 5K on Saturday as well as the marathon, half marathon or 10K on Sunday will receive FREE 5K entry and will have a fundraising minimum of $350 for the two races (total).

Runners have historically averaged raising between $500 and $750. Runners who raise $2,500 receive an OAR fleece as a special "thank you".

Why Run for Autism?

Raise money for autism research - More than $.84 of every dollar you raise will directly fund research studies that help answer some of autism’s most pressing questions. Since its inception in 2003, the RUN FOR AUTISM has raised more than $3.1 million for applied autism research.

The Organization for Autism Research (OAR) is a national, nonprofit organization formed and led by relatives of children and adults with autism and Asperger Syndrome. OAR is dedicated to promoting research that can be applied to help families, educators, caregivers, and individuals with autism find much-needed answers to their immediate and urgent questions. Committed to the excellence in its services to the autism community, OAR funds applied research that will make a difference in individual lives; provides information that is timely, useful, and cost-efficient; and offers opportunities for the autism community to collaborate and make advances together.

Whether you are a runner, walker, donor or volunteer, your contribution makes you part of OAR’s RUN FOR AUTISM team.

In the end, you will have made a difference in the lives of thousands of families living with autism.
