The mission of AutismOnline to provide research-based, effective, high-quality resources, products, and information on autism spectrum disorders (ASD) across the lifespan—including individuals with ASD themselves, caregivers, advocates, teachers, and professionals—makes AutismOnline a unique and extensive resource for the autism community.
Danya wishes to thank all of the individuals with ASD and their families for their support in the development of these products.
Speaker: Laura Anthony, Ph.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at the Children’s National Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Anthony specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and teens with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Her work includes diagnostic evaluations, group social skills training, parent training, individual and family therapy, and school consultations. Her current research is focused in developing classroom teaching strategies to help children with ASD learn cognitive and behavioral flexibility.
Keynote Speaker: Roy Richard Grinker, Ph.D., is a Professor of Anthropology in Human Sciences and International Affairs at the George Washington University. Professor Grinker, researcher, writer, and parent of an 18 year old daughter with autism, will describe the current state of research on autism from a global, cross-cultural perspective. He will draw on his research in South Africa, South Korea, India, and the U.S. to show how autism awareness across the globe is having a positive effect on the lives of individuals with autism and their families. He is the author of, most recently, Unstrange Minds: Remapping the World of Autism (NY: Basic Books) for which he won a Ken Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness. His current scientific research includes the first ever prevalence study of autism in Korea, a total population study of approximately 25,000 children (6-12), and a 6-year cumulative incidence study of autism in South Korea.
