
In Memory of Judge Wilson Cowen
Judge Wilson Cowen was a distinguished jurist who served as an example of integrity, a mentor, and friend to many over his years on the bench.

Retired Judge Wilson Cowen died on October 28, 2007 at the age of 101. Judge Cowen's judicial career spanned five decades, beginning with his appointment as a commissioner of the United States Court of Claims in 1942. In 1959, he was designated as Chief Commissioner of that court. He was appointed to the position of Chief Judge of the United States Court of Claims by fellow Texan Lyndon B. Johnson on July 14, 1964, and served in that position until March 1, 1977 when he assumed the status of senior judge. He continued in office as a senior judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit from its inception on October 1, 1982 through August 1, 1997.
