Operation Autism is a web-based resource specifically designed and created to support military families that have children with autism. It is the shared product of the
vision and energy of the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) and the funding support of the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation.
Operation Autism directly supports U.S. military families touched by autism and autism spectrum disorders. It serves as an introduction to autism, a guide for
the life journey with autism and a ready reference for available resources, services and support.
OAR’s intent in developing this resource is to provide military families with access to quality, evidence-based information; support families on and off base;
offer tips for dealing with some of the unique challenges military life poses for military dependent autistic children and their families; inform parents of their
child’s education rights and offer strategies for success in the classroom and provide a forum where military parents can ask questions, share information and
ideas and lend mutual support.
RethinkingAutism.com is an advocacy website that promotes a more positive view of autism. Over the past two years, Dana Commandatore and Michael
Broderick have made videos that support individuals with autism by trying to show how acceptance and understanding can lead to a better quality of life for
everyone involved. RethinkingAutism.com is not a charity and does not accept donations. Instead, Dana and Michael try to highlight autism and disability
charities already in place that support a better quality of life.
